The BCB President has assured that players participating in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be paid, despite issues with franchise non-compliance. This guarantee comes amid concerns over delayed payments by certain franchises. The BCB is committed to ensuring that players receive their due compensation for their participation in the tournament.
BCB President Assures BPL Players of Payment Despite Franchise Challenges
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed has assured BPL players that their payments will be secured, despite a lack of bank guarantees from most franchises. Only defending champions Fortune Barishal have provided the necessary guarantees, leaving the remaining teams without the usual security for player remuneration.
Uncertainty Surrounds Payments Due to Missing Guarantees
In past seasons, the BCB relied on these guarantees to ensure that players were paid in case of franchise defaults. This season, however, with no guarantees in place, concerns over payment delays have arisen. Faruque acknowledged the uncertainty but emphasized that the players’ payments are still a priority.
BPL Players Express Confidence in Resolution
Despite the delayed payments, BPL players, including Durbar Rajshahi captain Anamul Haque Bijoy, have shown understanding and confidence in the situation. Bijoy confirmed that no player had received payment yet but expressed optimism that the delay was due to logistical reasons, trusting that the issue would be resolved with the help of both the BCB and the franchises.
