Mumbai Indians endured a disappointing IPL 2024 campaign, finishing at the bottom of the league table in 10th place with just eight points from 14 matches. The decision to appoint Hardik Pandya as captain did not go as planned, as the team found itself surrounded by controversies even before the tournament began.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to commence on Saturday, March 22, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The playoffs will begin on May 20, culminating in the final on May 25 in Kolkata.
Mumbai Indians (MI) will play all seven of their home matches at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, a venue known for its electrifying atmosphere and passionate fan support. The five-time IPL champions will be eager to bounce back after a disappointing 2024 season and put up a strong performance in the upcoming edition.
MI will begin their IPL 2025 campaign with a high-voltage clash against their arch-rivals, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on Sunday, March 23, in Chennai. This blockbuster encounter will set the tone for their season as they look to start on a winning note against one of the most successful teams in IPL history.
Throughout the league stage, MI will play some crucial fixtures, facing CSK, Gujarat Titans (GT), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) twice in the season. Meanwhile, they will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) once.
Notably, MI will face Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings only in away fixtures. With a revamped squad and a point to prove, Mumbai Indians will be determined to reclaim their dominance in IPL 2025.
