Jitesh Sharma became a part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2025. The wicket-keeper batsman was acquired by RCB for INR 11 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Since joining the team, Jitesh Sharma has spent considerable time learning from teammate Virat Kohli, who shared several valuable batting techniques with Jitesh Sharma.
Jitesh Sharma quickly proved to be an important asset for RCB in IPL 2025. Batting mostly in the lower order, the right-handed batsman scored 128 runs in eight innings, maintaining a strike rate of 142.22. His highest score was an unbeaten 40*, contributing crucial runs in the team’s late overs.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli delivered an outstanding performance as well. Opening the batting for RCB, Kohli amassed 505 runs in 11 matches, boasting an impressive average of 63.13. He recorded seven half-centuries, with his best innings being an unbeaten 73 runs.
Jitesh Sharma Shares Batting Tips from Virat Kohli

In a recent conversation with host Mayanti Langer on the RCB podcast “Bold and Beyond,” Jitesh Sharma opened up about some valuable batting advice he received from Virat Kohli after joining Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2025.
“He taught me these small but important tricks… stay calm, focus on the game, and make smart decisions. Players who bat at number 5 or 6 often think about hitting sixes immediately, but Virat helped me channel that intensity into a clear approach on how to attack. He advised me to shift my focus thoughtfully. These little things have really helped me,” Sharma shared.
Virat Kohli, who clinched the Orange Cap last season, continues to be a strong contender for the top run-scorer this year as well. He currently stands fifth on the run charts with 505 runs.
Meanwhile, RCB has been impressive this season and has already secured a playoff spot. Sitting second on the points table with 17 points, the three-time runners-up have won eight matches, lost three, and had one no-result from 12 games.
Their recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was abandoned due to rain, ending with no result. Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB has two remaining league matches—against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 25 and Lucknow Super Giants on May 27.
