BCCI President Roger Binny celebrated his 70th birthday on July 19, 2025. With Roger Binny reaching the age of 70, his continuation as BCCI president faces uncertainty. According to the BCCI constitution, any office bearer who turns 70 becomes ineligible to hold a position.
Roger Binny was elected BCCI president in October 2022, succeeding Sourav Ganguly, who served from 2019 to 2022. Following Roger Binny 70th birthday, vice-president Rajeev Shukla is expected to step in as interim president.
However, as the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) is slated for September, sources indicate that Roger Binny may remain in his role until then without the need to sign any official documents.
Sports Governance Bill Likely to Benefit BCCI President Roger Binny

The upcoming Sports Governance Bill, scheduled for introduction in the Indian Parliament during the current Monsoon session, has added complexity to Roger Binny’s situation. Proposed by Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the bill aims to raise the age limit for office-bearers of all national sports federations from 70 to 75 years. Additionally, it is expected to have the power to override the constitutions of all national sports bodies.
As reported by PTI, Binny plans to discuss the implications of the bill with BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. So far, BCCI officials have not issued any comments on the matter. Many senior BCCI members are currently returning from the ICC’s annual general meeting held recently in Singapore.
At present, Binny is on a family vacation in Thailand, having just come back from London where he attended the third Test match between India and England at Lord’s.
