Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman marked a remarkable milestone during the Super Four clash against Sri Lanka in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 on Saturday, September 20. He became Bangladesh’s joint-highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket.
Mustafizur Rahman was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, delivering crucial breakthroughs while his teammates conceded runs. Using his signature cutters and slower balls, he consistently troubled the Sri Lankan batsmen, picking wickets at key moments and preventing the opposition from posting an unassailable total.
After being put in to bat, Sri Lanka’s openers Pathum Nissanka (22) and Kusal Mendis (34) gave their team a bright start, putting together a 44-run partnership in the first five overs. However, the momentum shifted quickly as Kamil Mishara (5) and Kusal Perera (16) fell cheaply, limiting the impact of the strong start.
Dasun Shanaka, batting at number five, played a scintillating unbeaten 64 off 37 balls, smashing six sixes and three boundaries to lift Sri Lanka to a total of 168/7.
