Asia Cup: Chasing 169, Bangladesh lost opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for a duck in the very first over. However, half-centuries from Saif Hassan (61) and Towhid Hridoy (58) anchored the chase and guided Bangladesh to a comfortable win.
For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka claimed two wickets each, while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka (22) and Kusal Mendis (34) provided a strong start with a 44-run partnership off five overs.
Dasun Shanaka then played a quickfire innings, scoring 64* off 37 balls, supported by Charith Asalanka’s 21, taking Sri Lanka to 168/7. Mustafizur Rahman starred with the ball, taking three wickets, while Mahedi Hasan picked up two and Taskin Ahmed took one.
