Jaiswal’s Fiery Clash with Konstas in Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy turned out to be a blockbuster for fans, with hosts Australia sealing a 3-1 win over India. The series delivered top-quality cricket along with plenty of drama. One such incident involved Yashasvi Jaiswal’s heated altercation with Sam Konstas. Fielding at silly point, Konstas repeatedly sledged Jaiswal, prompting the Indian batter to ask him to stop.
Moments later, Jaiswal responded in his own way—by smashing a delivery straight into Konstas’ body.

In a recent interview with Mashable India, Yashasvi Jaiswal opened up about his controversial clash with Sam Konstas during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The India opener admitted he intentionally hit the ball towards the Aussie after repeated sledging and revealed that Rohit Sharma later scolded him for the act.
“When I was batting, he was saying things forcefully to me. I got angry and thought, ‘Okay.’ Nathan Lyon bowled, I gave it a whack, and I hit him on purpose,” Jaiswal said. He added that while fielding at silly point later, he even teased Steve Smith, which prompted Rohit’s sharp rebuke.
Despite the incident, Jaiswal enjoyed a strong series, finishing as India’s top run-scorer with 391 runs at an average of 43.44, including a ton (161) in the first Test. He was also part of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad and the 2022 Asian Games gold medal-winning side, though he didn’t play in the T20 World Cup.
More recently, in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Jaiswal struck two centuries to help India secure a 2-2 draw. However, he was left out of India’s Asia Cup squad, with selectors opting for Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma as openers.
