The England Cricket Team has announced its squad for the highly anticipated Ashes 2025-26 series against Australia, scheduled from 21st November to 8th January down under. Ben Stokes will captain England, while the squad’s major highlight is Harry Brook being named vice-captain. Harry Brook, This comes as a surprise, as Ollie Pope, who served as vice-captain in the last series against India and led the team in Stokes’ absence, has been dropped from the deputy role.
Fast bowler Mark Wood, who missed the recent Tests against India, makes a return to the side. His pace and experience are expected to provide a significant boost as England aim for their first Ashes win in Australia in some time.
Seamer Matthew Potts and batting all-rounder Will Jacks are also back in the squad. Potts last featured in December 2024 against New Zealand, while Jacks made his Test debut for England in December 2022 against Pakistan.
Spinner Shoaib Bashir returns after missing the latter part of the series against India due to a finger injury. Captain Ben Stokes, who sustained a shoulder injury ahead of the final Test against India, is also expected to be fully fit for the Ashes 2025-26.
