Rohit Sharma’s Stunning Transformation Ahead of ODI Comeback

India ODI captain Rohit Sharma is already turning heads ahead of his much-anticipated ODI return next month in Australia, having shed an impressive 10 kilograms. The transformation was revealed by former India batting coach and friend Abhishek Nayar, who shared a glimpse of the star’s new look.

Rohit is expected to make his comeback on October 19, when India begins their three-match ODI series in Australia. Having last played for India in the Champions Trophy final earlier this year in Dubai, Nayar shared an image of Rohit’s training session in Mumbai, captioning it, “10,000 grams later, we keep pushing.”

Rohit still awaits Australia confirmation

The 37-year-old Rohit Sharma, last seen in action during the IPL 2025 season in May, was expected to feature for India A in the three 50-over matches against Australia A at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium next month. He was to play alongside Virat Kohli as preparation for India’s ODI series in Australia. However, neither player was named in the squad.

This development comes weeks after speculation that both senior batters might make their final international appearances on the Australia tour. Rohit and Kohli retired from T20Is in June last year, following India’s T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados, and exited Test cricket in May this year, just five days apart, two weeks before India announced the England tour squad.

Media reports suggested the selectors may encourage them to play domestic cricket to remain relevant for ODI selection, potentially extending their careers until the 2027 World Cup. While both have yet to comment on the rumours, they completed mandatory pre-season fitness tests. Rohit traveled to Bengaluru for his test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, extending his training for the Australia ODI series, while Kohli had his test conducted in London, where he relocated after the IPL 2025 season.
