Jasprit Bumrah is currently part of India’s T20I squad for the Asia Cup 2025.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah recently criticized former teammate Mohammad Kaif for commenting on how captain Suryakumar Yadav has been utilizing him in the ongoing tournament. The Asia Cup 2025, taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is now approaching its final stages.
Jasprit Bumrah, who leads India’s pace attack in the tournament, has not been at his usual best. He has been expensive at times and has struggled to pick up wickets, falling short of the expectations placed on him before the Asia Cup.
One notable point of discussion has been how captain Suryakumar Yadav has managed Jasprit Bumrah overs. In a rare strategy, the skipper has allowed the pacer to bowl three overs during the powerplay, a move that has raised eyebrows among fans and cricket experts alike. Bumrah then returns for his final over in the death overs, completing his quota. Many observers have suggested that he should ideally bowl just two overs in the powerplay to maximize his effectiveness.
Jasprit Bumrah Fires Back at Mohammad Kaif Over Comments

Jasprit Bumrah is set to play a crucial role for India in the Asia Cup 2025 final. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side secured their place in the summit clash by defeating Bangladesh in the Super Four stage.
Recently, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif weighed in on Bumrah’s bowling strategy. Kaif highlighted how former spinner Rohit Sharma utilized Bumrah differently and suggested that pacers prefer to bowl once their bodies are fully warmed up to prevent injury.
“Jasprit Bumrah under Rohit would generally bowl overs 1, 13, 17, 19. Under Surya, in the Asia Cup, he bowled a three-over spell at the start. To avoid injury, Bumrah these days prefers to bowl while his body is warmed up. One over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a huge relief for batters; against stronger teams at the World Cup, this could hurt India,” Kaif tweeted.
