Dhruv Jurel shared the emotions behind his celebrations, revealing a heartfelt tribute to his father and his deep, long-standing bond with the Indian Army.
Dhruv Jurel’s Maiden Century: A Heartfelt Tribute to the Indian Army

Team India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel dedicated his maiden Test century to the Indian Army. Stepping up in the absence of the injured Rishabh Pant, Jurel made a commanding impact against the West Indies, scoring 125 runs off 210 balls, including 15 boundaries and three sixes. He was among three centurions on Day 2 of the Ahmedabad Test, with India closing at 448/5 and a 286-run lead.
Dhruv Jurel shared a remarkable 206-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja, which ended when he edged a delivery from debutant Khary Pierre to be caught behind, giving Pierre his first Test wicket.
Beyond his batting, Jurel’s celebrations stood out. His army salute after reaching fifty and then his century was a heartfelt tribute to the Indian Army and his father, a Kargil War veteran. Reflecting on his emotions, Jurel said, “The salute after my fifty was for my father, but for the hundred, it was something I had in mind for a very long time because I have been so close to the Indian Army, seeing my father since my childhood.”
A moment to cherish forever! 🥳
