No single cricketer is called the “most expensive player” in PSL history because the Pakistan Super League (PSL) uses a draft system, not an auction like the IPL. In the IPL, players are bought in a big auction where teams bid for them, leading to very high prices. In the PSL, players are divided into six salary categories, which decide how much they earn.
For the 2024 PSL (the 9th edition), there are 18 players in the Platinum category, as listed by Sports Unfold. Each Platinum player can earn up to USD 170,000, and each team is allowed to keep only three Platinum players.
