At the second break, Gujarat Titans were behind the DLS par score at 132/6. After a long wait, they managed to secure a thrilling victory.
Gujarat Titans Triumph in Rain-Hit Last-Ball Thriller

In yet another gripping IPL 2025 contest on Tuesday night, Gujarat Titans edged out Mumbai Indians in a rain-affected last-ball thriller at Wankhede Stadium. The match saw two interruptions due to rain, the second of which left Gujarat trailing behind the DLS par score at 132/6. After a lengthy break, the revised target was set at 147 in 19 overs, leaving Gujarat to chase 15 off the final six balls.
Rahul Tewatia and Gerald Coetzee were at the crease for the final over, bowled by MI skipper Hardik Pandya’s pick, Deepak Chahar. Tewatia began the over with a boundary, followed by a single. Coetzee then smashed a six, but was dismissed on the fifth ball with just one run needed. Chahar added to the pressure with a no-ball in the over. Arshad Khan, the new batter, tapped the final ball toward mid-off and ran. Hardik Pandya fielded it cleanly but missed the stumps in a direct-hit attempt, allowing GT to seal a vital win.
The final moments sparked criticism, with fans questioning Chahar’s positioning and Hardik’s decision not to pass the ball to Suryakumar Yadav, who was better placed near the stumps. The missed opportunity handed Gujarat Titans a dramatic three-wicket victory.

Hardik Pandya could have thrown to someone and it was an easy runout !! And Deepak Chahar was simply standing – poor cricket #MIvGT #MIvsGT pic.twitter.com/WhyxrMyJQS
MI’s Fightback Falls Short as Titans Edge Victory

During the first rain break, Gujarat Titans were in control at 113/2, above the DLS par score. But when play resumed, Mumbai Indians’ pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult turned the game. Bumrah dismissed Shubman Gill for 43, and Boult trapped Sherfane Rutherford lbw for 28. The Titans’ chase faltered as Bumrah removed Shahrukh Khan, and Rashid Khan fell for just two, leaving Gujarat at 126/6. However, MI’s nerves failed them in the final over, and the Titans held their composure to secure a victory. With this win, Gujarat moved to the top of the points table, closing in on a playoff spot, while Mumbai dropped to fourth.
