Asia Cup: The match comes in the wake of controversy from Pakistan’s previous encounter with India on Sunday, September 14, where Indian players reportedly refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts. Following the incident, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and requested the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft for allegedly not taking action against the Indian players.
PCB also threatened to boycott the clash against UAE if the referee was not replaced. However, the ICC cleared Pycroft of any wrongdoing and declined to take action. Asia Cup, This led to a delay in Pakistan sending their players to the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Asia Cup: According to the latest update, the Pakistan team has now left their hotel, and the match is expected to start shortly. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the team is on its way to the stadium.
Asia Cup: Pakistan vs UAE Match Rescheduled to 9 PM IST
The Pakistan vs UAE clash has been pushed back by an hour and will now commence at 9 PM IST (7:30 PM local time). The toss is scheduled for 8:30 PM IST (7 PM local time).
This encounter is a knockout game, with the winner securing a spot in the Super Four round. India have already qualified from Group A, topping the points table with four points.
Asia Cup: Both UAE and Pakistan currently have two points each and will play their final group-stage match. Oman, having lost both of their matches so far, have been eliminated, with one game still remaining in the tournament.
