England: English all-rounder Chris Woakes has retired from international cricket after 15 years of impressive performance. He played his last match in the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India.
Ahead of the start of England’s tour of Australia, veteran England fast bowler Chris Woakes has retired from international cricket. He made the announcement via a post on Instagram.

The 36-year-old English all-rounder has retired from international cricket after 15 years of impressive performance. He played his last match in the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India. In that match, Woakes displayed immense courage and came out to bat for his country despite a dislocated shoulder.
In his bowling career, Woakes took 192 wickets in 62 Test matches for England. Furthermore, he has taken 173 wickets in 122 ODIs and 31 in T20Is. With the bat, the English all-rounder has scored a total of 3,705 runs for his country across all formats.

Chris Woakes made his international debut against Australia in the 2011 Ashes series. Subsequently, he used his skill and passion to help his country win numerous matches and titles. He played a significant role in England’s victory in the 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20I World Cup. In his post, Woakes stated that he will continue playing club cricket and franchise cricket.
Chris Woakes thanked all his teammates, coaches, and colleagues in an Instagram post, saying, “I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life. I will always be grateful to all the fans, and especially the Barmy Army, for their faith and love in me.”
